Welcoming speech for the exhibition “100 years at the service of art and international cooperation” dedicated to the Centenary of the Pushkin State Museum of Fine Arts


On behalf of the Ministry of Culture of the Russian Federation let me welcome all the guests who have gathered at the opening of the exhibition “100 years at the service of art and international cooperation” dedicated to the Centenary of the Pushkin State Museum of Fine Arts at UNESCO Headquarters.

Nowadays it is one of the major world museums which preserves various collections of art of outstanding value from Antiquity up to modern art. The Pushkin State Museum of Fine Arts has been organizing and participating in the biggest international exhibitions in Russia and abroad for decades. It has numerous friends and partners throughout the world. Popularizing the great masterpieces of fine arts, the Museum has gained love and respect of the public of different ages in Russia and abroad. The Museum is in constant search and development; its activities are based on the high ideals of cultural pluralism and mutual enrichment of peoples, the ideals that are perfectly consonant to the basic values of UESCO.

We are grateful to UNESCO as well as to the Permanent Delegation of the Russian Federation for their attention to the activities and merits of the Pushkin State Museum of Fine Arts.
